1. FOCUS (Friends if the City of Unley) urges Council NOT to accept the 2 motions without notice passed on10/4/13 at the meeting of the Unley Business & Economic Development Committee.
2. FOCUS is concerned due process was not observed in relation to these motions.
While the UB Committee is entitled to its views there was no opportunity for other councillors & rate payers to debate these. Correctly the UB committee should have directed to their views to the 2 committees taking submissions in relation to these DPAs.
3. FOCUS is concerned if the motion in relation to Local Heritage listing is accepted by council it will compromise heritage preservation in Unley. It is apparent most of the property owners on the have not registered objections to their property listed on the heritage list. Focus urges retention of the interim heritage DPA. As well supports a review of those properties for which objections have been raised. It also supports incentives for residents to preserve their heritage buildings such as waiving of council fees with applications for redevelopment or assistance to residents to apply for heritage grants where appropriate. It is critical the Interim Heritage DPA remain while these matters are investigated.
4. Given the lack of transparency with the UB motions without notice on 10/4/13 Focus requests council not to accept these motions.
